Get On

January 13th, 2010

GET ON – Motorcycle Industry Association (MCIA) Campaign

Designed to “grow the market for powered two wheelers in the UK”.

Offering 100,000 “have a go FREE rides” in the 3 year campaign period to Summer 2012.

Managed through an interactive website www.geton.co.uk, with stimulating social community.

Promark prepared PR briefs, sourced agencies and headed the selection panel for the PR Agency appointment. We also oversaw the agency in the first four months of the campaign. We remain involved as part of the monitoring MCIA PR working group.

Promark PR are the support admin office for the campaign and earlier this year we carried out a pilot dealer liaison scheme in order to ensure motorcycle dealers are optimising their involvement with the Get On campaign. Subsequent to that, we handled dealer liasion in four key areas of the UK and compiled reports of our findings for the Campaign Director.

Oxygen

January 11th, 2010

OXYGEN Commercial Electric Scooters

Oxygen flagship product – the all-electric CargoScooter is designed specifically for the delivery market and the first of its kind intended primarily for inner-city delivery use.

Activity:

  • Fully operational Press Office
  • Press release creation and distribution targeting specialist press (fleet operators, green credentials etc)
  • General media relations targeting consumers, including the scooter and motorcycle press
  • Operate a demo fleet – including maintenance and logistics
  • Coordinate sales via retail outlets and direct to corporations
  • Attend ‘Green Issue’ conferences and present the environmentally friendly Oxygen CargoScooter
  • Promote the product to Local Authorities and large corporations, as part of the transport mix to reduce their carbon footprint

One of the most efficient postal organisations in the world, Swiss Post, has this year doubled their fleet of Oxygen electric CargoScooters.  This takes the Swiss Post fleet to 1,000 Oxygen scooters, making it the largest electric scooter fleet in the world.

“The results we have achieved to date have confirmed our choice of Oxygen as a partner and we have thus decided to extend our electric fleet to 1,000 CargoScooters in the course of 2010.” La Posta, April 2010

With a further 500 Oxygen CargoScooters also on order for delivery 2011, the Swiss fleet success is testament to the cost effectiveness, durability and reliability of this sturdy commercial delivery vehicle.  This endorsement helps fleet buyers choose Oxygen as their partner over the other electric scooter brands entering this market, that do not have the credentials and longevity of the Oxygen CargoScooter, which has been specifically designed for the commercial delivery market.

Easy to use and cost effective

A full battery charge costs less than 50p, which means there are no petrol or diesel charges and you can do away with time consuming refuelling or management of fuel costs, as everything happens at your premises.

A full charge takes from 3 to 6.5hrs depending on the battery configuration chosen and this may be reduced thanks to the benefit of regenerative braking, which returns energy to the battery.  The range on a full charge is 60-120km depending on the battery options and the CargoScooter has a speed of 45kph or higher depending on the business requirements.  The throttle movement is controlled and smooth, delivering the power to the motor efficiently and effectively.

For commercial users, Oxygen has a leasing agreement option, from £149/month.

The CargoScooter is easy to use, whisper quiet and most importantly, cost effective, so commercial users can save money as well as lower their carbon footprint.  Prices start from £3,997 plus VAT. This price includes the battery (something which is not always the case with other brands) and a full two-year warranty, including the batteries, again not always the case with other manufacturers.  There are three battery options available, depending on the requirements of the fleet operator concerned.

Durable and Reliable

The rider and scooter are protected by lateral bars, both along the bodywork and built into the handlebars.  Even if the scooter were to be put on its side the panels do not come into contact with the ground, so there are no replacement part costs incurred.  The frame is rigid and reinforced to take the extreme loads demanded by La Posta, but still remains easy to handle and manoeuvre.

Standard load is up to 90kgs, plus the rider, distributed between a rear box and front carrier. This load weight can also be increased with a bespoke trailer, as tested and now used by the Swiss post.

The CargoScooter has been rigorously tested over the past three years in order to achieve this level of approval from such a demanding commercial operation.

“We chose Oxygen as one of the partners selected to build up a zero-impact vehicle fleet on the basis of the electric CargoScooter, which with its lithium-ion batteries, features advanced technology and meets our selection criteria.” La Posta

Class-leading Battery

The key to the Oxygen CargoScooter’s success lies in the use of state of the art lithium-ion batteries, which do not lose performance over time and maintain top performance for five years even if charged seven days a week.

“Oxygen products are suitable for professional use involving a lot of stopping and starting, in all geographic conditions and throughout the year.” La Posta

With only one moving part in its direct drive motor, the Oxygen CargoScooter offers exceptional reliability, low maintenance and minimum operating costs.

Use inside and out

As it uses no flammable fuel, the electric CargoScooter can be ridden indoors safely at depots and warehouses, for loading/unloading directly on or off the scooter, which again cuts down on time.  The Oxygen is whisper quiet so may be used in noise sensitive areas.

Company branding is easily done as Oxygen work closely with all clients to offer the most suitable version of the CargoScooter, with bespoke branding and colour options.

Spinal Research’s vision: A world where spinal cord injury doesn’t mean a lifetime of paralysis

Every day three people in the UK and Ireland are told that they will never walk again; their lives and those of their families are changed forever.

Spinal Research gives hope to those 50,000 people living with a spinal cord injury. Spinal cord injury can affect anyone in the community regardless of age, race or sex but it does disproportionally affect young adults aged 18 – 24.

At Spinal Research their focus is to find an effective treatment for spinal cord injury that not only improves sensation and movement for people living with paralysis, but brings us closer to a day when we finally conquer it.

Spinal Research give paralysed people hope that spinal cord injury will not mean a life time of paralysis.

There are currently no effective treatments for people with spinal cord injury, so for many, the permanence of paralysis can mean despair and a lack of hope as they struggle to come to terms with the change in their physical capacity and its related implications. A loss of independence can be one of the hardest changes to accept for people who once took their freedom of movement for granted.

Repairing a damaged spinal cord is one of the most complex challenges that medical science has ever faced. Thirty years ago, when Spinal Research was established, spinal cord injury was considered incurable and few people, if any, were contemplating research into repair. Since then the charity has been able to demonstrate that there is hope… they have achieved spinal cord repair in the laboratory and now stand on the brink of clinical trials that will restore movement and feeling that will transform the lives of paralysed people across the UK and beyond.

Progress so far

Spinal Research has played a key role in building the field of spinal cord injury research from the beginning, both nationally and internationally.

They saw the importance of funding the best projects and researchers in the UK and abroad, not only to return the best results but to sow international interest in spinal cord repair. They have helped to spread the message worldwide by publishing their Research Strategy in peer-reviewed journals, encouraging discussion and debate. As a founding member of the International Campaign for Cures of Spinal Cord Injury Paralysis (ICCP), they have supported the development of international guidelines for clinical trials in this field.

Through their ‘Clinical Initiative’ they have committed themselves to developing and testing the most appropriate tools for clinical assessment of repair strategies. Their ‘Translational Initiative’ seeks to move key developments from the laboratory towards clinical trials to benefit real people. They have given priority to research into chronic conditions and non-locomotive functions, as often those affected by spinal cord injury desire improvements in bladder, bowel and sexual function over the ability to walk as these functions greatly increase quality of life. Also, by providing annual PhD studentship awards they are encouraging talented neuroscientists to train in spinal cord injury and repair, helping to assure the future success of the field.

Spinal Research has also supported many major breakthroughs, including the discovery of scar tissue that stops nerve fibre regenerating in the spinal cord as well as specialist cells that can guide and encourage nerve re-growth.

They have achieved so much but there is still progress to be made; they are looking to the future and believe that it is only a matter of time before they get the breakthrough in clinical trials they anticipate, bringing improvements in mobility and sensation for paralysed people across the world.
